What is NEET? NEET-UG Exam Eligibility Criteria





As per Government of India, it is a mandated requirement to qualify NEET Exam to study medical courses in India and abroad. NTA has announced the date for NEET 2020 exam. In 2020, the exam will be conducted on 3rd May.





1. Is the NEET important?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted annually and is held across 154 test centres. With approximately 15,00,000 test-takers, NEET is the most important medical entrance examination in India.


2. Is NEET Tough?


NEET is a tough exam and, in this article, you are going to know why it is so difficult. The subjects are the first ones to blame here. NEET consists of three subjects- Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, and these three subjects are tough. Physics is one of the toughest subjects for most of the candidates.


3. Syllabus of NEET Exam





ICSE or CBSE for NEET Preparation? It's a common trend that CBSE students are clearing NEET more than their ISC counterparts. NCERT books of Biology, Chemistry and Physics for class XI and XII are highly recommended for preparation of medical entrance examinations.


4. NEET-UG Exam Eligibility Criteria

  1. NEET is mandatory for Indian/Overseas candidates for admission to a medical University in India.
  2. Age Limit: General- 17 to 25 years (on or before 31st December of the same year)
  3. SC/ST/OBC/PWD – 17 to 30 years
  4. All India Quota seats: Foreign nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), NRIs, Person of Indian Origin (PIO) is entitled to the reservation under 15% All India Quota seats.
  5. J & K candidates are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats.
  6. Qualification: The candidate who is appearing or has appeared in the 12th may apply for NEET. Their admission is confirmed only after clearing the 12th exam.
  7. Passed B.Sc. with any two of the Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology from an Indian University.
  8. Passed the first year of the University’s three years’ degree course in PCB
  9. Number of Attempts – Candidates can attempt NEET as many times as they wish until they attain the maximum age limit.




5. What are the minimum marks required for each category?
  1. 50% - General
  2. 40% - SC/ST/OBC
7. What is the application fee for NEET (UG) exams?



  1. GENERAL AND OBC    INR 1400 + GST SERVICE
  2. SC/ST/PWD/ETC            INR 700 + GST SERVICE
