To be eligible for the SSC Stenographer exam, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  2. Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 27 years as of the specified cut-off date. However, there are age relaxations for certain categories as per government rules.

  3. Educational Qualification:

    • For Grade C: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (12th Standard) or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
    • For Grade D: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (12th Standard) or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. Candidates should also have acquired skills in stenography in English or Hindi at a speed of 100 words per minute for Grade C and 80 words per minute for Grade D.
  4. Skill Test: Apart from the written examination, candidates who qualify in the written examination are required to undergo a skill test in stenography. Candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi at the speed of 100 words per minute for Grade C and 80 words per minute for Grade D. The transcription time will be as follows:

    • For Grade C: 40 minutes (English) and 55 minutes (Hindi).
    • For Grade D: 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi).
