As of my last update in January 2022, here is the information on the NEET exam pattern and eligibility criteria:
NEET Exam Pattern:
- NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS/BDS) in Indian Medical/Dental colleges.
- The exam is conducted offline (pen and paper-based).
- The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
- The question paper consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- Subjects covered include Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
- Each subject carries 45 questions.
- Each correct answer awards 4 marks, while each incorrect answer deducts 1 mark.
- The medium of the question paper is available in 11 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before December 31 of the year of admission. The upper age limit is 25 years as of the examination year (relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories).
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. The minimum aggregate marks required in qualifying examination is 50% for general category, 45% for general-PH category, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC category candidates.
- Attempt Limit: There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET as of 2022.
