IMPORTANT POINTS RELATED TO PRESIDENT OF INDIA:-



1. The 12th President, Pratibha Patil, is the first woman to serve as President of India, elected in 2007. On 25 July 2017, Ram Nath Kovind took office as the 14th President of India.

2. Dr Sir Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President of India (19521962). Dr Radhakrishnan became the second President of India after Dr Rajendra Prasad retired in 1962.

3. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy

The youngest President to assume office was Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, who was inaugurated at the age of 64 years, 67 days.

5. Pratibha Devisingh Patil

Pratibha Devisingh Patil (born 19 December 1934) is an Indian politician who served as the 12th President of India from 2007 to 2012. A member of the Indian National Congress, Patil is the only woman to hold the office.

7. The president may also be removed before the expiry of the term through impeachment for violating the Constitution of India by the Parliament of India. The process may start in either of the two houses of the parliament. The house initiates the process by levelling the charges against the president.

8. The Constitution explicitly assigned the president the power to sign or vetolegislation, command the armed forces, ask for the written opinion of their Cabinet, convene or adjourn Congress, grant reprieves and pardons, and receive ambassadors. President of India is the head of the government and supreme commander of armed forces. His powers can be classified into several heads such as executive powerslegislative powers, financial powers, judicial powers, Diplomatic powers, Military powers as well as emergency powers.




9. The President can declare war or conclude peace, subject to the approval of the parliament and the advice of the Prime Minister, Council of the Chiefs of Staffs of the Armed Forces, Military Secretary and President's Officer (Deputy Military Secretary). ... The International Emergency Economic Powers Act, enacted in 1977, falls under the National Emergencies Act, which means that an emergency declared under that Act must be renewed annually to remain in effect.
