Hence, candidates who dreamt of getting a job in Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission must prepare well for the test strictly. To clear the written test, follow the JKPSC CCE Kashmir Administrative Service Main Exam Syllabus 2018 & Exam Pattern.
The Main Examination shall consist of a written test and an interview. The written test shall consist of question papers of descriptive type, out of which one paper shall be of qualifying nature only, from the subjects set out in Appendix-I as per the detailed syllabus. Provided that the Commission may revise or update the syllabi for the Combined Competitive (Preliminary/Main) examination from time to time.
Note: The interview test is intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his intellectual qualities but also social traits and his interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical expositions, balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.

Important Instruction for JKPSC KAS 2018 Combined Competitive Exam


  1. Every candidate appearing in the examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination.
  2. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates who are otherwise eligible.
  3. Provided further that the number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to RBA, Social Castes & ALC, who are otherwise eligible, shall be nine.
  4. The relaxation will be available to the candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
  5. Provided also that a physically challenged candidate will get as many attempts as are available to other non-physically challenged candidates of his or her community, subject to the condition that a physically challenged candidate belonging the General Category shall be eligible for nine attempts.
  6. The relaxation will be available to the physically challenged candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
Candidates should possess Master’s Degree level Library Science/ Information Science/ documentation Science, or an equivalent professional degree from an India/ Accredited foreign University, Ph.D. degree & NET/ SLET/ SET qualification for Post 1.
Master’s Degree in Physical Education or Master’s Degree in Sports Science with at least 55% marks, NET/ SLET/ SET, Ph.D. degree by the University Grants Commission for Post
The examination will consist of two papers.
Paper I – General Studies 
Paper II –  CSAT   (Qualify 33%)
